Giving birth and becoming a mother is possibly the greatest time of transformation in your life. Yoga can help ease that transition aiding in developing emotional and physical health for the nine months of pregnancy and beyond. This age-old practice keeps you limber, tones your muscles, and improves your balance and circulation, with little, if any, impact on your joints.

In addition to making you more physically comfortable in the months ahead, prenatal yoga classes are often your only forum for meeting other pregnant women. The sense of community and support this fosters is a major benefit of prenatal yoga; one that is at least as important as the physical aspect.

  Family Yoga

Being a parent means we must be flexible, willing to bend, compromise and adapt to the ever changing stages in our children. How can we keep it all together while enjoying being with our children?

Families are pulled in all different directions. Each person in the family practices a different sport. Wouldn't it be great if there was a playful activity that the whole family could enjoy together?

Try a family yoga class. Yoga means union. It is a perfect family activity, meeting each student right where he or she is regardless of age, ability or level of health.

Family yoga is a more playful way to practice and connect, and a fun and healthy way to spend quality time with your kids.

Children love yoga. They love the movement and creative expression associated with the poses . They have unbounded energy and joy in moving their bodies. Wouldn't it be wonderful to maintain the flexibility we had as children?

The asanas or poses in yoga are modeled after plants, animals, shapes in nature and stories of sages, making yoga a perfect fit for children.

Children love animals. It is natural for little ones to pretend they are- lions, snakes, dogs and cats. This naturally makes the practice engaging for children when presented in a dynamic way.A children's yoga class typically features stories, games, animal sounds and laughter. This all adds up to the most important element - fun! Isabel Shaw age 2 1/2 loves Family yoga.Mom Suzanne Shaw says her toddler keeps asking, "when is yoga day?" Come ready to practice a nontraditional yoga. Let go and be a child again and play.

Their enjoyment of the classes would be reason enough to teach yoga to children - but the benefits go far beyond. Yoga can give children the ability to:

It is said that home is where the heart is. Come practice a heart centered yoga with your family.
